Common jobs
Most calls we get are for the same handful of problems: a torsion spring that snapped overnight, an opener that runs but won't lift the door, a track that's bent from a car bumping it, or rollers that have worn down to the point the door shakes going up.
Cold winters here put extra stress on springs and cables - metal contracts, lubricant thickens, and a spring that was already tired gives out on the first hard freeze of the season. Housing in this area went up mostly between 1946 and 2009, with the bulk of the stock dating to the 1980s and 90s.
That means a lot of the doors we work on are original hardware from that era - spring sizes and track styles that aren't always what a big-box store carries off the shelf.
We can usually tell you over the phone whether a part is common or something we need to order, but we won't guarantee a same-day fix on a part we don't have in the truck. We also handle full door replacements when a repair isn't worth it anymore - rotted panels, a door that's been patched three times already, or an opener system that's simply past rebuilding.
Service area
We're based at 5650 Centerpoint Ct in Gurnee and run calls out from there. Park City is about two miles from us, Gages Lake and Grandwood Park are roughly three miles out, and we cover Old Mill Creek and Green Oaks around five miles away, along with Grayslake and North Chicago at about the same distance.
Further out we still take jobs in Lindenhurst, Wadsworth, Beach Park, Libertyville, and Venetian Village, all around six miles from the shop. Round Lake Beach, Lake Bluff, and Hainesville run seven to eight miles, and we go as far as Antioch, Round Lake, Winthrop Harbor, Long Lake, Fox Lake Hills, Hawthorn Woods, Volo, Lincolnshire, Wauconda, Lake Catherine, Mettawa, and Long Grove when the schedule allows - the furthest of those sitting around twelve to thirteen miles out.
If you're not sure whether your address falls inside that stretch, call and ask. We'd rather tell you straight than have a truck show up somewhere we can't service properly.
Our team
There's no backstory to tell here - no founding date, no roster of technicians to introduce. What matters for a quote is the door in front of us: its size, its age, what's broken, and what it would take to fix or replace it.
An accurate quote needs a few specifics from you: whether the door is single or double, roughly how old it is, what it's doing wrong (won't open, opens partway, makes noise, sags on one side), and whether the opener is affected too. A photo helps more than a description most of the time, since spring size and track type aren't always obvious from a phone call.
What we genuinely can't price sight unseen: anything involving a bent track that's twisted rather than just knocked loose, water damage to a wood door where we can't see how far the rot goes, or an opener with wiring issues buried in a wall. Those need a technician standing in your garage before we can give you a real number. We'd rather say that upfront than hand you a guess and have it change once the truck's there.

Questions
It depends on what's broken - a spring replacement, a roller job, and a full door swap are three different prices. We don't quote a number until we know the door's size, age, and the specific problem, since guessing on the phone usually ends up wrong once a technician actually looks at it.
Yes. We regularly work in Park City, Gages Lake, Grandwood Park, Grayslake, Libertyville, and the other towns within roughly a ten to thirteen mile radius of our shop on Centerpoint Ct. If your address is near the edge of that range, call and we'll tell you straight whether we can get out there.
Tell us if the door is single or double, roughly how old it is, and exactly what it's doing - won't budge, opens partway, grinds, or sags to one side. A photo helps a lot. Some things, like a twisted track or hidden wiring damage, we can't price until a technician sees it in person.
Sometimes, yes. If a door has been patched more than once, has rotted panels, or the opener is worn past a reasonable rebuild, replacement usually costs less over time than another round of repairs. We'll tell you honestly if that's where your door is at instead of just billing another fix.
